This Friday (yes, Valentine’s Day) is my roommate, Jessica’s, birthday! Because it is on a special day and a certain someone would probably appreciate being able to spend time with her, we planned a friends party last night. We went to dinner and had the most delicious food!
Yummy pesto gnocchi!!
Cheesecake Factory Red Velvet Cheesecake. I’m not the biggest cheesecake fan, so Deb and I split this and once she had eaten what she wanted, I ate around the cheesecake part. I know, I’m strange.
Happy Birthday, Jessica!
Yesterday, I decided to check the air quality and it was in the GREEN!! So I put on my running gear and ran outside for about 25 minutes. First though, I would put into action some of the things I learned at She Runs this last weekend. (was that only this weekend?? Feels so long ago!) One of the presenters spoke on the importance of doing a correct warm up! I know I am super, super guilty of just kind of running slower at first and then picking it up. That’s not really the best.
Here is the flyer we received. The left column is a list of the “textbook” answers for what you should do to warm up. The right column is a better list of dynamic warm-ups.
I know the picture isn’t the best quality, so here are the exercises:
- Arm Circles
- Walking Frankenstein
- Arm swing hugs
- Walking butt kicks
- Walking single leg calf raises
- High Skips
- Side leg swings or jumping jacks
- Slower first mile jog
I have to say, I really do think it made a difference in my run. I felt warmed up (what?!) and was able to get right into my work out. We may be on to something here!!
I promise this is the LAST time I’ll mention this video, but they’ve changed the rules and “likes” and comments on the video are now worth 5x the amount of points a view is!! And the pageant is tonight! So if you have a second could you please like and/or comment on the video?? Thank you!!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
Do you do a good warm up before your work outs?
Do you like cheesecake?
