5 Goals You Can Achieve This Summer
Author: Andy Andersen
Summer is a great time to set new goals and start new beginnings. It’s a time of more activity, excitement, and fresh perspectives. Now would be a great time to take advantage of the summertime energy and set some goals that you think are achievable in the next few months. In addition to your own goals, here are five goals you might want to integrate into your summer schedule.
1. Read More
With a busy schedule and a world of constant distractions, it may have been a long time since you actually sat down and read a book cover to cover. Studies show that even the most avid readers read less now than they might have in the past. Setting a goal to read every day, or at least a few times a week this summer may be just the thing for you to reclaim your life and get some distance between you and the hectic distractions of your day-to-day. Taking just a little time to read daily has been proven to reduce stress significantly, provide healthy mental stimulation, expand vocabulary, and even improve one’s ability to think analytically. So pick up that stack of books you’ve been meaning to get to for ages and make this summer the time to read them all.
2. Reconnect with Friends and Family
Even the most well-meaning of us can easily lose contact with family and close friends. Summer is a perfect time to reconnect with those whose presence in our lives has been lacking. Set aside some time each month specifically for activities with family and friends. Make it a goal every week to call a different family member you haven’t talked to in awhile. You’d be surprised at just how far a simple “Hey, how are you?” will go in re-establishing familial connection. At the end of the day, family is all we have. Now is the time to take simple steps toward reconnecting with the people who matter most.
3. Complete a Home Improvement Project
Whether you’ve had one on your mind for months, or you’re simply looking to mix things up in your house, executing and completing a home improvement project can be a rewarding summer activity. Maybe you’ve got that wall you’ve been wanting to knock out in your main living area to achieve an open concept space, or you have that kitchen countertop you’ve been wanting to replace. Whatever your home improvement goal, it’s better to get working on it now while the house is less occupied. The energy of summer can help fuel your resolve!
4. Work Toward Getting Out of Debt
There are a many great goals you can set this summer, but few are as important as decreasing your debt. While it’s more than likely that you’re constantly working toward getting out of debt, this summer may be the perfect time to reassess your efforts, cut some monthly expenses, and make more significant strides in becoming debt free. 5. Get In Shape
Summer is a perfect time to get outside and reclaim that healthy body you’ve been wanting. If you’ve already created an exercise plan sometime in the past year, but found it difficult to execute it because of a busy schedule, summer is a great time to create a new plan and commit to following through. It’s also a great time to get outdoors and incorporate outdoor activities into your workout plan. Try yoga, cycling, swimming, hiking, or even working out in the park. There’s no end to the types of new activities you can try while getting in shape at the same time. Adopt eating habits that coincide with your workout plan and your desire to be the best you possible.
